Judge me not by were I have been
Judge me not by the color of my skin
Judge me not by the clothes I wear or by the way I speak
Judge me not by the scars that mar my skin, from so many a blade kissing my flesh
Judge me not by the ribbon that wraps around my neck, a reminder of what I have done and what I will never do again
Judge me not by the ink that colors my flesh, which tells a story across my skin
I am not defined by things you can see, by things you can hear, by things you can smell
I am made from sterner stuff that you can see, hear, or smell
I am not what you know from the past, a boy stuck in stagnant stinking depression
I am not what you see on the surface, a happy Young Man, always joking, always their
I am a protector that you never need
I am a big brother that is never their
I am a friend that only wants you to be happy
I am Nicholas Todd Gackenbach and that is all that I ever will be and i am happy with that
Judge me not by the color of my skin
Judge me not by the clothes I wear or by the way I speak
Judge me not by the scars that mar my skin, from so many a blade kissing my flesh
Judge me not by the ribbon that wraps around my neck, a reminder of what I have done and what I will never do again

Dressed In Black
Dressed In Black
I am proud to wear black
So there's no going back
I have discovered the inner me
Now I know my true identity
No more fighting blues and depression
No need for violence or aggression
The darker side of my being
Has revealed other ways of seeing
A community of friends
Whose concern never ends
Enveloped by darkness
And a world of kindness
It seems that the outsiders of society
Have stolen my dark soul in its entirety
So welcome the new day
I have found a different way
Literature
Differences
They don't know me
Why do they care?
Why must they
Just stop and stare?
No, I don't wear
Fancy name-brands
Different, my clothes, my hair
And even my choice of music and bands.
I'm not a clone
I like myself now
And I'm not alone
To you, I will not bow.

Morpheus
In my sleepless slumber I lay
Never forgetting the perils of day
I open my eyes and count the cracks in the ceiling
Within me there's a sick, dreadful feeling
Whispers emit from the indomitable darkness
Dreadful memories return like a ghastly carcass
I toss and turn as my mind burns with the demons of my past
Tangled in a web of desires, how long will this insomniac last?
My body ceases to rest if my soul is not at ease
Even my own shadow seems to lash out at me
Dear Morpheus, where are you, controller of dreams?
Chase away my nightmares and sing me to sleep

This is definitely a poem that will stick with me for a long time. I like the message you are sending. There is too much judgement in the world. And it's nice to see you really getting back into the swing of poetry writing again. A lot of us are still afraid to tell our story. So it is brave and inspiring when you are willing to reach past YOUR past to connect to ours. I truly love this!!!
